Minecraft Education

Minecraft Education is an educational version of the popular game Minecraft, tailored to enhance learning experiences for students. It provides tools and features that promote creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration in an immersive and safe environment.

1. Open the Google Play store from your shelf (taskbar) or app launcher. The icon looks like a triangle in blue, green, red, and yellow. 

    

2. The images in the Google Play Store may not load. Click Minecraft Education. 

3. Click the Install button and wait for the install to complete. It may say 100% for awhile and then go back to saying "Installing," and that is okay! Just be patient. 

    

4. When the install is finished, you can close the Google Play Store window by clicking the X in the upper right. The Minecraft icon should appear in your shelf (taskbar) within a few seconds. The Minecraft icon looks like the side of a book shelf from Minecraft. 

    

1. Make sure you have installed Minecraft on the Chromebook first. (Directions are above.)
2. Choose Minecraft from the shelf (taskbar) or app launcher on your Chromebook and wait for the application to load. The Minecraft Education icon looks like the side of a bookshelf from Minecraft. 

    

3. Click the Sign in button. 

    

4. On the Microsoft sign in screen, enter @gcpsk12.org in the space for an email address. Note: You do NOT need to enter an entire email, but you DO need to use the @ symbol. To make the @ symbol, hold down Shift on the keyboard and type 2. 

    

    

5. If this is your first time logging in, you may see the screen below that says, "We need a little more help." If you see this option, choose "Work or school account." 

    

6. Next you should see a GCPS login screen. Enter your student ID and select your password pictures (or for older students, enter your password) as you normally would.

• ESC key: Pause or exit the game
• 1-9 number keys OR mouse scroll wheel: Toolbar selection; quickly select an item in your hotbar
• Q: Drop items
• W: Move forward
• A: Move left
• S: Move backward
• D: Move right
• E: Inventory
• Shift key: Crouch or fly down
• Space bar: Jump; double-tap to fly; hold down to fly up
• Left mouse button OR one-finger tap on trackpad: Break a block or Attack
• Right mouse button OR double-finger tap on trackpad: Place or Use an item
• Move mouse without clicking OR move finger on trackpad without tapping: Look around
